Food: Christmas Food Review @ Utara Coffee House, Armada Petaling Jaya

I absolutely love the magic surrounding Christmas and this is definitely a time for festivity among friends and family. What better way to celebrate Christmas and the New Year's than with a buffet of traditional and innovative dishes!

Recently, I've had the pleasure to try out the buffet spread at Utara Coffee House @ Armada Hotel. I was surprised to see such an extensive range of dishes available and it was a meaty fiesta for me and the other bloggers there that evening.

With the concept of a fusion between European and French cuisine, the Christmas buffet here is set to fill your tummy with good food!

The large seating area and the buffet spread available.

Before getting you guys hyped up on the menu, here's a brief idea of the Christmas menu at a glance!

Some really worthy shots I took of the Christmas buffet spread :)

CHRISTMAS REVIEW MENU

Salmon Coulibiac
Poached salmon marinated with olive oil, wrapped in Danish pastry.

Tiger Prawn Ceviche with Avocado
This was just lovely and wonderful! The prawns were fresh and bouncy and the way they poached it was absolutely perfect. At the bottom of the plate are some avocados and onions mixed with some lemon juice. The perfect appetizer with a hint of sourness!

Dubarry Soup with Cheese Batonette
Dubarry is simply a fancy name for cauliflower and I reckon that this is a good way to consume those cauliflowers. You practically can't taste the cauliflower because they have been blended till fine. Made fresh daily, this soup contains very light cream, so don't worry about it being fattening.

Baked Capon with Bread Almond Roulade
Capon basically means a large chicken and it replaces the mandatory turkey at the Christmas feast. The stuffings are made up of carrot, celery, leek and onions.

The Giblet sauce which is made from innards. I wasn't a big fan of this.

Roast Duck Ripieni with Calvados
Basically, the idea of ripieni suggests that some stuffings are added. This was a dish of deboned duck with its meat removed and then coarsely chopped. Next, it was rolled back with some apples for that added crunch and sweetness in every bite.

The sauce which had more diced apples and herbs.

Swedish Crab Pudding
So cheesy! Absolutely delectable and cheese lovers will definitely need to get a few helpings of this. Crab meat cooked with bechamel sauce and parmesan cheese, plus mozzarella cheese added as the topping. Oh, so heavenly!

Roast Beef Tapenade with Champignon

Louisiana Pumpkin Rice

Whole Lamb Leg with Garlic Sauce
As a lamb lover, I approve this dish. The distinct lamb smell was quite subdued in this one and I was able to really enjoy the meat. The lamb meat was marinated with tonnes of herbs such as rosemary, thyme, sage and oregano. This was served together with mashed carrots, mashed potatoes, mashed pumpkin and mashed sweet potatoes.
